Mengenal Tentang RAID pada server?
RAID atau Redundant Array of Independent Disks merupakan sebuah teknologi virtualisasi penyimpanan data dengan mengkombinasikan beberapa komponen harddisk menjadi satu atau lebih pada unit logical untuk tujuan redundancy data, meningkatkan performa atau keduanya.
Data pada harddisk di distribusikan melalui disk menjadi satu dengan beberapa cara, tergantung pada RAID Level. Pada skema level yang berbeda seperti redundan atau performa. Perbedaan skema atau tata letak distribusi data ini di namakan dengan kata “RAID” yang di ikuti dengan Nomor. Sebagai contoh RAID 0 atau RAID 1.
Apa saja Konsep RAID ?
Ada dua jenis konsep pada RAID, yaitu Mirror dan Stripe.
Stripe atau Striping
Striping merupakan konsep yang melakukan penggabungan pada beberapa harddisk dengan memasukkan data ini saling terpisah pada beberapa sector. Membuat data ini tidak hanya tersimpan pada satu harddisk melainkan keduanya secara berganti-ganti. Kelebihan penggunakan Striping ini adalah meningkatkan performa pada pemindahan data, karena data tidak hanya masuk pada satu harddisk melainkan 2 harddisk yang menjadikan kecepatan bisa naik drastis.
Mirror atau Mirroring
Mirroring menjadikan dua atau lebih harddisk menjadi beberapa bagian. Distribusi datanya akan menjadi sama dengan bagian pertama maupun bagian yang lainnya. Membuat konsep mirroring ini sering di gunakan pada server yang memiliki data yang cukup penting dan sensitif. Kelebihan menggunakan Mirroring ini adalah ketika terjadi kerusakan pada disk A maka pada disk B tidak akan hilang, dan masih ada cadangan yang dapat dipakai.
Standard RAID Level
RAID standard memiliki beberapa level yang terdiri dari beberapa level di bawah. Fungsi level ini juga tergantung pada perangkat disk pada sebuah server itu sendiri.
RAID 0
menggunakan konsep Stripe membuat seluruh harddisk yang di konfigurasi dengan level RAID 0 ini akan di jadikan satu tanpa sistem redundan. Akan efektif jika ingin meningkatkan performa distribusi data.
RAID 1
menggunakan konsep Mirror untuk distribusi data, yang setidaknya memiliki 2 disk untuk melakukan pemakaian RAID 1 ini.
RAID 5
membutuhkan setidaknya 3 disk dan menghapus beberapa disk untuk meningkatkan kinerja melalui akses simulasi, tetapi tidak seperti RAID 0, RAID 5 ini menyertakan kode koreksi di antara data yang ada.
RAID 6
adalah versi perluasan dari RAID 5 yang menambahkan blok lain, dengan demikian penggunakan striping tingkat block dengan dua blok paritas yang di distribusikan di semua disk.
Nested RAID Level
Nested RAID juga di kenal dengan Hybrid RAID merupakan kombinasi 2 atau lebih pada standart RAID Level. Berbeda dengan RAID Standard, RAID Nested menggunakan konsep striping dan mirroring untuk melindungi data.
RAID 10
atau juga diketahui sebagai RAID 1+0, setidaknya membutuhkan minimal 4 disk untuk menggunakan level ini.
RAID 50, 60, 100
Pada RAID ini sama seperti RAID Standard tetapi ia memiliki bagian RAID 0 untuk penggunaan konsep striping. Untuk standart penggunaan pada realita juga memiliki perbedaan yang kemungkinan besar di gunakan secara luas.
